From the Missouri Division of Tourism Blog:
Missouri has become known as a destination with diverse entertainment options and many live shows for every taste, genre and for all generations. Yesterday, I found out about a new show in the making, and if all goes as planned, the world will soon enjoy this new production.
From left, Missouri Division of Tourism Director Katie Steele Danner; Producer/Director Bonnie Brennan; Line Producer Bob Visty; and TV Personality Jann Carl.
I stopped in at Camdenton at the Lake of the Ozarks where I met Bonnie Brennan and Jann Carl, who together with their partner, Julie Harman, are hoping they can bring another Missouri live show to the attention of America. I hope they can, too. Because in so doing, they will feature all that we love about Missouri in a weekly show that hopes to grow as popular as the current “American Pickers†and “Pawn Stars†shown on Monday nights on The History Channel.
The star of the show isn’t the Los Angeles-based journalist, former correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, University of Missouri School of Journalism graduate, Carthage, Missouri native Jann Carl. Nor is it any of the stars of “The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, Making the Team†a show produced by Bonnie Brennan. It is not even Julie Harman, the fourth highest-earning winner on NBC’s “The Weakest Linkâ€, only to miss the $64,000 question on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire†(hint: The correct answer was “Maxâ€.)
Auctioneer Rick Bryant, center, is shown during filming of a History Channel pilot called “$old.”No, the star is a feisty Missouri auctioneer known to all in central Missouri as Rick Bryant. Rick is a second generation auctioneer following in his Dad’s footsteps (Richard Bryant Sr., a Truman State University graduate, I discovered) who together with his family own Bryant Auction, LLC. Rick and his professional staff of four auctioneers, ringmen, office personnel, and movers have more than 100 years of experience, all with their own unique back-stories.
Located in the heart of The Lake of the Ozarks, Bryant Auction is the Lake area’s leader in auctions. Just like Richard Bryant Sr., Rick has made it a family business. Rick’s son Dylan is the cashier and he created the company’s website, newsletters, and online media; he’s also a student at State Fair Community College in Sedalia. Rick’s daughter Danyale, a senior at Camdenton High School, is one of the company’s best clerks. And Rick’s perky wife Tracey runs the concession stand that has weekly specials and exquisite formal quality dinners. After years of hard work and determination, this multi-generational professional family auction company was picked by over hundreds of auction companies across the nation for this reality TV series produced by Evident Entertainment for the History Channel.
This unique group of folks are all working together to improve your television viewing options with this “docu-series,†while helping families divest of their family heirlooms and other valuable items in a compassionate, entertaining, honest and fair manner that will provide enjoyment to those in attendance as well as those tuning in if the series gets “picked up.†And for those tuning in, they will get to learn more about Missouri and America’s Heartland as each segment highlights the history, culture, and diversity of our area.
