Committees

Members are the life blood of any association and committees are the veins through which it travels. What we accomplish during this first year of MOMMA’s existence might well determine the fate of Missouri’s motion media industry. The legislature passed an increase in the film tax credit but the future of the Missouri Film Office is still very much dependent upon the strength of the industry. Prior to the formation of MOMMA there has been no voice for the motion media industry in Missouri. There has been no sense, on the part of the legislature or the Department of Economic Development that our industry cares about the fate of the Film Office. A tax credit without a film office is worth little. It is critical that the goals established by the MOMMA board (including a strong presence and voice in Jefferson City) in June of 2007 be carried out. Without a strong and active membership, those goals will not be realized. We urge you to join MOMMA and, equally important, become active on a MOMMA committee. Please don’t assume that “someone else” will carry the load. We need every member to be active and involved.
