The Fault-Line Film Festival 2012, Cape Girardeau, Mo. SEMO
The Fault-Line Film Festival showcases the creativity and innovation of university students across Missouri through filmmaking. For the first time, regional colleges and universities will be able to participate in a new intercollegiate video competition, the Fault-Line Invitational. Student script writers, actors, video production and editing specialists are given the chance to spotlight their creative talents by competing for $4,000 in awards and prizes.
All currently enrolled University or College students in the state of Missouri are eligible to participate in the the Fault-Line Invitational. Student films can be up to 10 minutes in length and submitted in one of the following categories: Drama, Comedy, Mystery/Suspense, and Animation.Â Â Winning films will be screened at the Fault-Line Film Festival Gala on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at 7:00p.m. on the campus at Southeast Missouri State University.
This event is sponsored by Department of Mass Media, Department of Theatre & Dance, Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts, College of Liberal Arts, Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology and the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Southeast Missouri State University.
David Johnson, partner, president, producer and director of Coolfire Media in the Greater St. Louis area, will deliver a keynote address at noon Nov. 14 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeastâ€™s River Campus.
A producer versed in the art of physical production, Johnson has the skill to realize a creative vision and an uncanny knack for bringing projects in on time and within budget. After graduating from the University of Missouri in 1994, he began his career at the top commercial production company in Houston, Texas. While there, Johnson produced national, regional and local commercials for clients such as Wal-Mart, Nations Bank, Texaco and Goya Foods.
In July of 2005, Johnson joined Coolfire Media as an in-house producer. During the past seven years, Johnson has become a partner in the three Coolfire companies and currently oversees the development and production of all television shows, commercials, online films, and audio and digital efforts for the company. Â Coolfire Media is a full-service production and post studio offering directorial, editorial, motion graphics, animation, audio and original music composition. Coolfire Media collaborates on projects of all shapes and sizes â€“ from working with advertising agencies that represent the worldâ€™s biggest brands to charity organizations.
Fault-Line Film Festival Awards and Screenings
The Fault-Line Film Festival showcases the creativity and innovation of students through filmmaking during various featured events at Southeast. During the festival, Southeast student script writers, actors, and video production and editing specialists are given the chance to spotlight their creative talents by competing for prizes and recognition.
Winning films from the competition will be screened, and $4,000 in prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeastâ€™s River Campus.
A red carpet reception will take place, winning films will be screened, and a Peopleâ€™s Choice Award will be announced at the Fault-Line Film Festival Gala, scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre. Refreshments will be available, and door prizes will be awarded.
Winning films will be shown again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre.
