All MOMMA members and anyone who works in the Missouri motion media production community are invited to attend this event.

We need production community members from all regions in Missouri to attend.

Our primary goal is to sustain the current Film ProductionTax Incentive of 4.5 million, and not have it transferred to another industry as recently recommended by the Governor’s Tax Incentive Task Force.

IT HAS NEVER BEEN MORE IMPORTANT TO SHOW UP AND MEET LEGISLATORS WHO WILL TAKE UP THE TAX INCENTIVE DEBATE IN THE 2011 SESSION.

If you plan to attend, please follow these steps:
Step 1 – RSVP to: filmMOMMA@gmail.com
Step 2 – When you RSVP, it is very important to include the name of your state representative & state senator in your email. You can find this information at http://www.mo.gov, click “My Government,” then “Elected Officials.” You will need to know your zip+4 to use the mo.gov site.
(Don’t know your zip+4? Go to: http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/ to find it.)

If you can provide a demonstration (show animation/show CGI, etc), please contact Joni Tackette (jtackette@aol.com). We are also interested in all other jobs in the industry. (Space is limited, please reply asap to request a table.) It’s important to get to the Capitol building early to set up as you will need to unload near the garage entrance and it gets very crowded later in the day. Those with tables should arrive around 8:30am. Below is a tentative agenda.

Schedule:
8:30 a.m. – Exhibitors arrive to set-up. We will provide a diagram. We’re asking everyone who can, to come and have a table to showcase what they do. Very interested in those who do: sound editing, digital editing, animation, 3-D, CGI/fx as these fit in with the new media tie to film.

10:00 – Legislative attendees should assemble in House Hearing Room 4 (basement level). Briefing by MOMMA lobbyist Jeff Brooks. Overview of day & instructions. …. .. Donuts, juice and coffee available.

11:00 – Noon – Visits with legislators. Exhibitors should be at their tables during this time.

Noon – 1:00 – Legislators view exhibits and eat lunch in our exhibit area. MOMMA members should be there to mingle (3rd Floor Rotunda and Senate Alcove). Important for exhibitors to be at their tables during this time. Lunch provided by MOMMA.

1:00 – 2:00 – Continue visits with legislators – Exhibitors stay at tables – other members make calls.

2:00 – 3:00 – Thomas Hart Benton room (3rd Floor-House side) – Update from legislative leaders.

Hi 48 Hour Filmmakers and Fans!

The 48 Hour Film Project returns to St Louis in 2010! We’ll be back on June 4-6 with the most exciting 48 filmmaking hours of your life! Keep an eye out here for the start of registration.

In the meantime, we have a lot of cool things coming up. Including, a chance to:

1. Vote your least favorite genre “Off the Island!”
2. Make a 48HFP Music Video – no time limit!
3. Attend our end of the year extravaganza – Filmapalooza in Vegas!

YOUR VOTE COUNTS!
Take this short, and I mean really short survey, to help us decide the official genres this year. Tell us which to keep and which to get rid of in 2010. (A note to you lovers and haters of our beloved “Musical/Western”… it’s not going anywhere, so vote for something else to get rid of or keep.) This is also your chance to make suggestions for the required Character/Prop/Line of Dialogue for cities throughout the world, so put those thinking caps on!

Click here to take the survey:

MAKE A MUSIC VIDEO!
That’s right… here’s your chance to take a little more time to make your masterpiece 48HFP film. Make a Music Video to “You Have 48 Hours” by Bill Briare. We invite you to make a music video — in whole or in part — and we’ll mix the submissions together for the best music video ever and post it on our website and on YouTube.

The deadline for submissions is February 28th, so don’t miss out. For more info, visit the website!

ATTEND FILMAPALOOZA in VEGAS!
We’ll be in Vegas to celebrate the fantastic 48HFP filmmaking of 2009 and we hope you’ll join us. Filmapalooza is April 10-12 at the NAB Show. We’ll screen all the 2009 City Winning Films, the winning
Showdown and National Film Challenge films, network with filmmakers from around the world and party like it’s 2010.

Registration for Filmapalooza is only $25… AND it includes access to the NAB Show Floor for free! Click here to register:

We hope you’ll take part in one or all of the above!

Forty countries. Ten days.

The 18th annual St. Louis International Film Festival runs through Nov. 22 at the Tivoli, Hi-Pointe and Plaza Frontenac theaters, the St. Louis Art Museum, Webster University and Washington University, and it’s all about choices.

To guide you, the organizers from Cinema St. Louis have grouped the lineup into more than 30 geographic and genre “sidebars.”

Are you hot for Hollywood? The studios are previewing at least eight of their big year-end releases, including three probable best-picture finalists: “Precious,” “An Education” and the St. Louis-lensed “Up in the Air.”

Are you dedicated to documentaries? There are more than 40 of them. Mad about music? There’s an app for that. Wild about Westerns, sentimental for silents, fond of the French? Bienvenue. There’s even a sidebar devoted to Bosnian cinema.
