MOMMA’s Legislative Day is Tuesday, February 2, 2009. Join us at 10:30 a.m. in the Capitol building in Jefferson City. We’ll have donuts and juice for you when you arrive and lunch for you before you call on Legislators. There will be a tutorial on what we hope to accomplish, how to talk to your legislators and the “do’s and don’t’s of a successful Legislative Day. You’ll have fun, you’ll learn and you’ll get a chance to network with industry peers from throughout the state. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring quarters for parking meters. Most of all – bring your commitment to educating Missouri’s lawmakers about the importance of the motion media industry. Let them know that this industry puts food on your table, gas in your car and taxes in Missouri’s coffers. Tell them what you do and why the industry’s future is important to you, personally. Your voice counts. Let it be heard. Join us on February 2 in Jefferson City.
The 2009 legislative session is over but MOMMA is not resting. We will be crafting the 2010 legislative agenda beginning with the June board meeting (June 26 – St. Louis, location to be determined). Members are invited to email or mail comments on the development of the agenda to info@MOMMAonline.com or to P.O. Box 598, Columbia, MO 65203. We believe, given the current state of the economy, we came out of the 2009 session with a win – an increased film office budget and the retention of the $4.5 million tax credit (available after January 1, 2010). We make great strides in terms of educating legislators about how our industry works and the impact it has on the economy. We will continue that effort through set visits, personal contacts, press releases, the Movie Scout program and other methods throughout the remainder of this year and in 2010.
