The Independent Filmmakers Coalition of Kansas City announces the the 7th annual “Every Picture Tells A Story†showcase Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 7pm at the Screenland Crown Center.
Filmmakers from around the KC metro area will partner with visual artists of their choosing and create a five-minute film on either a particular piece of art, the artists’ body of work, or the unique story of the artist themselves. These can be done in the documentary or narrative styles, and past subjects have included a photographer who is going blind, a massive collection of work from an artist with social anxiety disorder, sidewalk chalk, and even a tattoo artist.
On December 11th, filmmakers and artists will gather at 7:00 pm at the Screenland Crown Center for the event. The IFCKC plans to have several of the pieces on display, making the event both a film festival and an art show. Three Judges Awards will be selected, as well as the Audience Choice Award.
“Every Picture Tells a Story†is one of the IFCKC’s most popular events. IFCKC President Brian Boye adds, “This is a real opportunity for two different visual art media to blend together in a really unique collaboration of artistic expression – for the artist, it’s a chance to showcase his work in a unique forum, and for the filmmaker, it’s a chance to tell a very unique story.â€
Art lovers and fans of independent film are encouraged to attend the screening. Tickets are $5 at the door for IFCKC members, $8 for non-members.
Entry fees: $20 for IFCKC members, $30 for non-members. Each entry will receive two tickets to the screening that night, one for the filmmaker and one for the artist. Entry forms are available on the IFCKC web site – www.ifckc.com.
The Independent Filmmakers Coalition of Kansas City is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources and continuing education for independent filmmakers and film enthusiasts alike. The group meets at the Westport Coffee House every Wednesday at 7:30pm.
